Ang Mo Kio

Ang Mo Kio is among the oldest Housing and Development Board (HDB) estates in the country. Established in 1980, it is the seventh satellite town and the pioneer of being built using metric dimensions. The concept of town councils started with Ang Mo Kio in 1986, as a test project to improve the service residents can get within a HDB neighbourhood. The idea later was appropriated in the Town Council Act of 1988 and is of today the second-level of administration for Singapore today.

The town is well known for its number of green parks. Other than the popolar Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, the town has a large park named Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West which has a McDonald’s restaurant, an Amphitheatre, and is just next to Mayflower Market and Food Center. Residents of Lentor can cycle or take a stroll at the Lower Pierce Reservoir Park to the West of Ang Mo Kio.

Popular schools like CHIJ St Nicholas Girls School and Ai Tong Primary School are located within Ang Mo Kio.

You can read more about the town from the Ang Mo Kio URA Masterplan.
